The Notebook in a novel turned film romance that stars Ryan Gosling ( La La Land ) as Noah and Rachel McAdams (Mean Girls) as Allie. The two teenagers are thrown together by fate and spend the next few months falling deeply in love. She learns to let go of her uptight bringing and let her hair loose with a simple but caring country boy. However, when the summer ends, they are forced apart by her parents. They are magically brought back together years later when a picture of Noah appears in the same newspaper as her wedding announcement.
For me, the film does an adequate and exciting job of adapting the book to the screen. Even if you haven’t seen this movie before you’ve seen a clip of the famous kiss scene that was actually NOT in the book. Writers also changed things up by letting Allie write the story in the film and having Noah read it to her. Whereas in the book, he is the writer. The chemistry on film between the two main characters is absolutely electrifying. I couldn’t imagine these characters to be played by anyone else. If you’re ready to bawl your eyes out like a baby and like a good story of two lovers overcoming the road blocks that are placed in front of them, I suggest this movie. BUT… and I will say this for every adaptation, READ THE BOOK TOO.
